Rudolph Gessley - Exhibited Oil Painting
Rudolph Gessley, (1852-1941), was an artist and treasurer of John Robinson’s Circus.
Gessley was enrolled in the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 1932, around the time that this work was exhibited at the Cincinnati Art Museum’s annual show.
I discovered and purchased this painting many years ago from an antique dealer who was exhibiting at the Brimfield Antique Market in Brimfield, Massachusetts.
There is a partial exhibition label on the back of the work from the 1932 Cincinnati Art Museum’s annual exhibition.
Measures 26.25 inches by 38.25 inches by 1.5 inches including the frame.
The painting does have crackalure throughout, but displays well.
